Four people attending church at Hosanna Church of Christ, 1002 Brunel Street, Sunday evening were transported to the Memorial Satilla Health emergency room for medical examination after a car careened off the roadway and plunged into the building, said the Georgia State Patrol. The four people had not been identified Monday by presstime, said Alicia Carter, GSP Waycross Post secretary. Wanda Lynch, 49, driving a 2007 GMC Sierra, was headed north on Brunel Street when she crossed the center line and entered the lane of a Toyota Corolla, striking that vehicle, said Carter. The impact projected the second vehicle into a utility pole. Lynch’s vehicle continued northwest and struck the church, coming to rest partially inside the building, said Carter. The driver was not transported for treatment, Carter said. Trooper Patrick Orr reported that when he arrived at the church where he had been dispatched, he observed the truck resting partially inside the walls of the structure. The collision between the vehicles and resulting entry into the church occurred at 7:34 p.m. Sunday, April 3.
