VIDALIA — Never let it be said that University of Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is not enjoying the fruits of being a National Championship winning football player.
The Pierce County native got the thrill of a lifetime Friday, April 22 when he got an opportunity to fly with the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels flight team at an airshow held in Vidalia as part of the city’s Vidalia Onion Festival weekend.
Bennett got to fly in the second seat on the Number 7 F/A-18 Super Hornet jet piloted by Lt. Griffin Stangel during one of the teams practice runs at the Vidalia Regional Airport in front of a packed and excited crowd.
Bennett will have plenty of time to recover from the multiple G-forces he encountered during his flight. The Bulldogs recently wrapped up their spring practice schedule and won’t officially be back on the field practicing until August, when Georgia prepares to defend its title for the 2022 season.
The Bulldogs begin defense of their title September 3 when they square off with the Oregon Ducks in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
