William Freddie Husbands

WAYCROSS — William Freddie “Fred” Husbands, 82, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, at the Hospice House Satilla in Waycross following an extended illness.

Husbands was born in Garnett, S.C., to the late Fred Collins Husbands and Roseva Hogarth Riley Husbands. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service and later worked with IMTEC in Waycross as a machinist. Husbands was also a member of New Life Church in Blackshear.

In addition to his parents, Husbands was also preceded in death by a son, William Freddie Husbands II; and a grandson, Jonathan Husbands.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lucille Helton Husbands of Waycross; three children, Michael Husbands of Ray City, Ga., Heather Minshew (Robin) of Waycross, and Danielle Timmerman Justice (Ken) of Blackshear; a daughter-in-law, Denise Husbands of Valdosta; 10 grandchildren, Caitlyn Timmerman, Bryson Hickox, Luke Weldon (Taylor), Harley Minshew, Amber Husbands, Matthew Husbands, Thomas Hart, Aaron Walsh, Layla Hart, and Rain Justice; numerous great grandchildren; a sister, Eva Lynn Ratliff (Mike) of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Robert L. Husbands (Gail) of Pensacola, Fla., and David V. Husbands (Margaret) of Macon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral was held Monday, May 30, 2022 at New Life Church in Blackshear.

Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
